Waco Christmas Events 2026: Four Holiday Nights, Dec. 3–6

"At Baylor, the most wonderful time of the year officially begins with Christmas on 5th Street." That line sits at the top of Baylor's Christmas on 5th Street site, right under a date that is a day earlier than last year's: December 3, 2026.

Waco's biggest December events each hold to the same weekday every year. Because the calendar shifted, all of them land one date earlier in 2026. Taken together, they fill four nights in a row, Thursday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 6. Cameron Park Zoo's lights switch on the week before, but the season's main events all start on the 3rd.

The Four Nights, as Posted So Far

Here's what each organizer has confirmed for that stretch so far.

Night Event Where Posted hours
Thu., Dec. 3 Christmas on 5th Street Baylor campus 4 to 9 p.m., varies by location
Fri., Dec. 4 Waco Wonderland opens Heritage Square, 300 Austin Ave. Not yet announced
Sat., Dec. 5 Waco Wonderland, day two, plus Christmas at the Silos Kick-Off Heritage Square and Magnolia, 601 Webster Ave. Silos grounds 6 to 9 p.m., retail closes at 7 p.m.
Sun., Dec. 6 Waco Wonderland, final day, plus Frost – A Holiday Cirque Extravaganza Heritage Square and the Waco Hippodrome Frost at 6 p.m., Wonderland hours not yet announced

Thursday's hours are spread across Baylor's campus. Baylor lists the Quadrangle from 4 to 8 p.m. The Bill Daniel Student Center, inside and out, and Fountain Mall run 5 to 9 p.m. 3rd Street runs 5 to 8 p.m., and the Morrison Parking Lot is marked "All Night." The full activity schedule on Baylor's site still shows last year's programming. Expect the 2026 lineup to change once it's posted.

Friday is when the season moves downtown. The Waco Wonderland homepage describes 2026 as the 14th annual festival, "returning to Heritage Square in the heart of downtown Waco this December 4-6," and says more details are coming. The site lists a tree lighting with fireworks, a downtown holiday parade, a snow tube hill, a Ferris wheel, free photos with Santa at the Santa House, and the Mistletoe Market with food, drink and handmade gifts.

Why Everything Slid One Date Earlier

Each organizer kept its usual weekday, so the dates moved with the calendar.

Christmas on 5th Street was Thursday, Dec. 4, in 2025. In 2026 it's Thursday, Dec. 3. Waco Wonderland ran Friday through Sunday, Dec. 5 to 7, last year, according to the City of Waco's Nov. 24, 2025 City Limits eNews. That bulletin put the start at 5 p.m. Friday, with the tree lighting and fireworks at 7 p.m. This year the weekend is again Friday through Sunday, Dec. 4 to 6.

Thanksgiving sets the other anchor. Cameron Park Zoo's events calendar bills its holiday light show as Waco's largest, starting the day after Thanksgiving and running through December 30. In 2026 that's Friday, Nov. 27. In 2025, Wild Lights opened Nov. 28 and also closed Dec. 30.

Because of those two anchors, the zoo opens the season the Friday after Thanksgiving, and the opening week downtown and on campus follows six days later. Magnolia's holiday-hours page has the same shape. The Silos grounds are open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and all Magnolia businesses are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. Its Christmas listings pick up the following week, with the Kick-Off on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Saturday, Dec. 5 Is the Crowded Night

Of the four nights, Saturday has the most going on at once. Waco Wonderland is in its second day at Heritage Square, and Magnolia has listed Christmas at the Silos Kick-Off for that evening. The grounds stay open from 6 to 9 p.m., and retail closes at 7 p.m. Magnolia is always closed on Sundays, so the Silos part of the season runs on Fridays and Saturdays.

Wonderland has published some practical details that won't change much from year to year. The festival's info page says admission is free. Ride wristbands are sold for unlimited rides that day, but the page doesn't list a price. It also points to a free parking garage at 401 Franklin Ave. and free surface lots. The parade page gives the route as Austin Avenue from 11th Street to 3rd Street. It hasn't named the 2026 parade day or start time yet, and it says registration details are coming soon.

Two key times are still unknown: the tree lighting and the parade start. Last year the tree lighting was on Friday at 7 p.m. The 2026 times will show up on the Wonderland site once the organizers post them.

Sunday is quieter, but the Waco Hippodrome adds a ticketed show. Its upcoming events page lists Frost – A Holiday Cirque Extravaganza for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, the last day of Wonderland.

Before and After the Big Week

The opening week sits in the middle of a longer season. Here's the rest of what's confirmed for 2026, in order:

  • Sat., Nov. 14: Cameron Park Zoo has two events that day. The H-E-B Zoo Stampede fun run is already sold out for the third year in a row. Orangutan Caring Week runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. That night, the Hippodrome stages Elton and Cher.
  • Sat., Nov. 21: Jim Brickman at the Hippodrome.
  • Fri., Nov. 27: Cameron Park Zoo's holiday light show opens and runs through Dec. 30.
  • Dec. 3 to 6: The four nights above.
  • Sat., Dec. 12: Christmas at the Mayborn starts at 10 a.m., with activities in the museum and the Historic Village, trains and Santa.
  • Fri., Dec. 18: Red Dirt Comedy Christmas Show at the Hippodrome.
  • Sun., Dec. 20: Endless Summer – America's Beach Boys Experience at the Hippodrome.
  • Dec. 24 and 25: All Magnolia businesses are closed.
  • Wed., Dec. 30: Last night of the zoo's light show.

The light show's dates bracket the whole season. It opens a week before Christmas on 5th Street and closes after every other event on the list. If a December weekend fills up, it's the one outing with the most dates to choose from.

Still Waiting on 2026 Dates

Several familiar traditions don't have published 2026 schedules. Last year's versions show roughly where they fell, but they aren't a promise for this year.

Christmas at the Silos, full season. Magnolia's 2026 holiday-hours page lists the Kick-Off but not the rest of the season. In 2025, KWBU reported that Christmas at the Silos ran Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 28 through Dec. 20. Magnolia's 2025 Christmas at the Silos page lists walk-up Santa photos under the Historic Barn from noon to 5 p.m. on those Fridays and Saturdays. It also lists a ticketed VIP Santa Experience on two Saturday mornings. Tickets weren't required just to walk the grounds.

Christmas Lights in the Village at the Mayborn. The Mayborn's Dec. 12 listing is for Christmas at the Mayborn and doesn't mention the evening lights. In 2025, Christmas Lights in the Village ran Dec. 12 to 14 and Dec. 19 to 21, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

A Dr Pepper Christmas. The Dr Pepper Museum at 300 S. Fifth St. held its free holiday evening on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. It included Santa and free museum admission, plus a separately ticketed Holiday Make-A-Soda. The museum's event page still shows that 2025 evening.

Waco Wonderland times. The Dec. 4 to 6 dates and the Heritage Square location are confirmed. The tree-lighting time, parade day and fireworks details are not. The festival's info page says fireworks details are coming soon.

If those events follow last year's pattern, the Mayborn lights and the Dr Pepper evening would land on the two weekends after the opening week. The organizers haven't confirmed that yet.
